Ami Directory
Hi all i've just started my first directory and am quite excited about it. Its a general link directory but listings are completely free! You can upgrade to a featured listing for just £5 at the moment. When you go to the website you just have to sign up by entering a username, password and e-mail address but no other information is required. This just means you can login and add more listings in the future or edit current listings you have. So please add your websites and let me know what you think. Not many listings at the moment but I am going to be doing some major promotion so its well worth submitting. Please go to http://www.amidirectory.com |

Any reason you've spent time and effort making this site? Is there not around 15 million directories almost identical to yours? I don't understand why people bother. If someone wants to find a website, they'll visit Google, MSN Search or Yahoo (and perhaps Ask.com or a small handful of others), not one of the several billion directories that keep cropping up. Wouldn't your efforts be better spent doing something a. useful and b. original? |

Thanks for your opinion. There are many directories out there but the people who mainly use them are people who are add their website to create more backlinks which are vital for Google PR rankings etc. They can also be profitable when people buy faetured listings. One of the points you made regarding the amount of directories on the internet is completely true. But then you have to ask yourself why there are so many. If they were good for nothing then nobody would bother |

People put these directories up because it's easy and free - there are plenty of readily available scripts out there to put up link directories. It's my understanding that Google frowns on these link directories and your placing in Google can be affected if you have a link on one of them. I would never post any of my websites to any of these kind of link directories. |
