I've often wondered the same thing.
However, there are two solutions. You can use
del.icio.us to store/find/share bookmarks.
Otherwise - what I do is I export my bookmarks (in Firefox, but IE can do it too) to an HTML file and email the file to myself and import it at work. Should be cross-platform, cross-browser compatible method that requires that you actually do something. It takes all of 1 minute.
