I started on a Commodore Vic 20 and I made that ball bounce around the screen, and the birds flapping thing.

Then I got a Spectrum, Atari ST, and then I bought a PC because I wanted to play Championship Manager 2 on it.

I went to Uni and we had Mac's "oh these are great", everyone said. I became curious as to why there were hundreds of straightened paper clips strewn across the media suite. I soon found out as all the Quadra Macs we had started to sound off like a pretty chorus, "oh they are for rebooting".

So what's great about the mac then?

Soon after we got iMac's installed and then I understood why people believed that Mac's were great. It was like when I started smoking, it was cool. Apple Mac's looked cool. So I bought one.

Sold it after a year as I discovered that there was no real support in the UK. As I started to become more serious about web design I realised that Dreamweaver is the same on a PC and a Mac, CSS and XHTML is the same. The only thing that is different is that when you return to the desktop the icons and start menu are in different places.

My PC has crashed about twice in the past month. My colleagues Mac crashes every time he wants to create a PDF!!!

So we can say what we like about our tools, but they are just tools and they just do a job. Having a mac will never make you a good designer/developer. Having a PC will never make you a good designer/developer. I use both, a Mac at work and a PC at home, personally I prefer the PC, but that's only because I have more faith in its capabilities. Someone please give me a real reason why Mac's are better?
