I have made shapes lke that before but I am starting to doubt that the way I do t is the way other people do it.

1. Select the shape tool for round cornered rectangles (U)
2. Set the radius for the size you want - for the above I used 30px.
3. Draw the shape so it's a perfect semi-circle either end.
4. Select the path.
5. Delete the anchor point in the middle of the semi-circle you want to straighten.
6. Using the point convert tool straighten the edge that you want to be straight.
7. Double click the layer on the right hand side.
8. Select stroke and dilute to taste.

No idea if it's the way others would do it because it's not something I've done before so I just did what was obvious to me.
