So, in about a year or so, I'm going to be looking for a web design job on the east coast. Probably Philadelphia. Anyway, I've done some browsing on the normal job/career sites and found plenty of entries with adequate salaries. However, I wonder if you all could share some resources for finding jobs (full-time, not freelance) and "getting into the business". I'm currently working (or have planned) several freelance projects, which will help build my portfolio.
What I'm looking for are...
- Job Search Sites/Resources (specialized - not CareerBuilder/Monster/etc - I know about those)
- If you think freelancing is a better option, say so - and provide some resources, if you like.
- Resume/Portfolio Building Resources
- any other resources that would be beneficial...
I've got most of this stuff down in terms of fine art, since that's what my degree's in, but not for web-related work.
Also, looking particularly for standards-based resources - I don't want to spend all my time mastering XHTML/CSS/DOM and all that only to get a job making tag soup with FrontPage.
Thanks in advance!
