fad? hmm, more of a good idea if you ask me.
I guess it depends on what aspects of web design you feel are most important. Useability, Accessability, Functionality, Updateability or just plain looks. There are great advantages to centralising code and seperating style from content... CSS styling takes this further than tables which can only be a good thing (Tables can still be handy on the fly though
