Thanks for the advice.
The macromedia thing costs a fortune so I'll skip that (I only want to make one font after all).
The Fontlab looks good and I downloaded the demo (v.4.5) but unfortunately the limitations of the demo is that you can only save in one format (not ttf). The full version is also too pricey.
