I also found looking under the bonnet of prefabbed scripts from www.hotscripts.com/PHP/ to be enlightening.

Cheers Bill, I know there's loads of bits on here somewhere and I saw a good book last week......Hotscripts, codewalkers etc are always worth a look too....
