It may sound like a cliche but I have had my current Powerbook for 23 months and I have not experienced one crash. I'm not even sure I've ever switched it off and it only gets a restart after routine maintenance tasks.
I think you'd be surprised at how little time it does take to get used to. What's harder is getting back on a PC after using a mac for a while. Windows just seems to lack common sense...
