Hm.
I've had the problem before where the file wouldn't be loaded even though the image file
was in the src location. Refreshing would load the image (even after emptying the cache), and JS preloading did indeed solve the problem. It's something to do with the length of time taken to load all the elements on the page (slow server) I do believe..
