start off with shared hosting otherwise you're going to be spending more than you're making, then migrate to [semi]dedicated when you need to; you aren't going to be getting a lot of traffic initially.
you obviously don't have the knowledge (assumed from your post, not meant offensively!) to manage a dedicated box yourself so that means even greater expense… ok once the money is rolling in but until then…
if you are having the site created by a third party it's yours if you pay for it, simple as that.
