My suggestion: Canon 450d - The model was recently updated so its a great time to buy. If your intermediate, i think that would be the best bet. Its a great camera and theres room to grow if you get more into photography.
If you're going to be using photoshop, at the least get a camera that can shoot in RAW as well. That will give you far more room to play with the curves, levels etc. without causing as much damage to the image.
