i've been doing a zine (
http://pragmate.avant-avant.net ) for the past few years and although i haven,t used the conventional printing presses i can assure you it can be either difficult or costly to print out only 200 copies.
i've been very DIY to save on costs.
i just might be kitch but have you thought of screenprinting? then again it would depend the type of magazine your doing. personnaly i think i'll be doing the next issue of my zine on a big screen printed poster.
then again i have no taste. or arms.
