I listen to everything... but... when it has to be serious... when I have to 'get myself together'... when it REALLY matters my playlist says:
[b:5a1f1be520]Mike Oldfield [/b:5a1f1be520]- [b:5a1f1be520]Amarok[/b:5a1f1be520] or [b:5a1f1be520]Tubular Bells [/b:5a1f1be520](orchiestral version)
It might not be 'hip' to listen to this and I do agree that his latest stuff sounds more like a desperate attempt to keep up with the times than anything else... but those two records are just amazing! If you enjoy orchiestral music give this a go... it's very atmospheric - those tunes (as they are ~1 hour long each!) are also very good background music for reading...
Apart from that currently on my desk:
[b:5a1f1be520]Cake [/b:5a1f1be520]- [b:5a1f1be520]Prolonging The Magic [/b:5a1f1be520](american rock with lots of trumpets and a good sense of humour - really!)
[b:5a1f1be520]Archive [/b:5a1f1be520]- [b:5a1f1be520]You All Look The Same To Me [/b:5a1f1be520](UK band not very well known in their homeland! very interesting mixture of Pink Floyd influences and modern 'trends'. Bit like a crossover between Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Underworld. Brilliant!)
[b:5a1f1be520]Rob Dougan [/b:5a1f1be520]- [b:5a1f1be520]Furious Angels [/b:5a1f1be520](the DJ behind the Matrix tune 'Clubbed To Death'. Really nice album. Groovy stuff with lots of real string instruments. All tracks excellent - apart form the last one - which I think is jus a little cheasy
