I'm with Jono in that I think you really mean flair, not flare. I hope you haven't bought any domains yet.

I think the new version is actually a bit of a step backwards. It's a style that has become a bit over used in recent times. It reminds me a lot of the logos for sites like krop and Veer, and also the Unilever brand.

I quite liked the typography of the second image you posted and in my opinion you should be working to develop that idea further. Maybe take the theme in a slightly different direction. The ‘ink’ part of the name has a lot of connotations you could work with.
