I have to agree with pixelpyro.
Tribute or not - one can adapt the style or try to emulate it - but
it will never be the real thing! From a conceptual point of view (here we go again) I don't think anybody is qualified to 'interpret' anybody's style.
The best presentation 'frame' is a neutral one!

I had a similar 'problem' when watching the movie 'Frida'. Adding 3d effects to her paintings and stuff - all very impressive and pretty and VERY vell done but...
Especially the hallucination sequence at beginning of the film - again, very 'pretty' - but how the hell (?!?) can the art direction dare to visualise / 'materialise' such a sequence? / ...write it in the first place?

err, anyway... apart from that - I liked the movie (
