No soul? Depends on what kind of soul you're looking for. I'm not looking for blues and gospel here. Try listening to some classic Skinny Puppy, there's enough emotion and pain in those to qualify as 'soul' I would think. We're not looking at touchy-feely 'lawd, my life dun gone so wrong' kind of soul... but more the 'life is unfair, look at the suffering' kind perhaps.
It's all up to taste I guess. I have no problems with GOOD music, and I listen to all kinds (no country or rap please). =)
If I want some soul... I throw in some Richard Ashcroft... if he's not singing about some love he's lost, it's about how high he was when he lost that love... 'lord... I've been trying... trying to keep, myself from cryin...' sing it Richard. hehe
