The irony of these two massive artists rebelling against the industry and giving music away seems to be lost on most people. How are they recording this music? In massive studios funded by the success gained from commercial sales. Are they holding down day jobs to fund their art? No.
Just as democracy gives people the freedom to demonstrate against the government, so the capitalist music industry has given the winners the freedom to demonstrate against the evil middleman. Not that I think selling music for £8 a CD is right, but you have to look at things realistically.
