[quote:c7155ffbd4="andrewparker"]Sterile, mind-numbing, bland and featureless to some, quite the opposite to others. Whilst I appreciate your opinion I think it's that kind of backward thinking that leaves Britain in the darks ages where residential architecture is concerned and why they are still knocking up thousands of mock tudor dolls houses that are not only a danger to the environment but an insult to the eye....[/quote:c7155ffbd4]
I'm not saying everyone should be of that opinion, it's just mine. I agree that fake and tacky isn't good.

I don't think I'm backward thinking, I just like things with character. Houses and furniture can be new, stylish and progressive whilst still having a character or personality about them. For example that mill house - why build something that is grey and cemented on the outside and so detatched from nature on the inside in such a beautiful area? I'd much prefer a house that makes the most of the natural surroundings.

Yeah I'm in Australia, so I'm sure cultural differences come into play when it comes to these sorts of preferences too.
