Wow... who would have thought it?! Jacob himself has no idea about web 2.0?! He seems to spend a lot of time talking about the "glossiness" of web 2.0... Whoops, thats not what its all about!

He's wrong on his other points, too... There are still those people who want to get in, get it, and get out, but more and more we are seeing that people want the ability to customise their experience now... Over time I think this might become the norm, too.

Jacobs problem is that the principles are changing, and he's not... The web isnt an information medium any more... Its a fully interactive, socially led platofrm. Yes, basics still need to be done right, and I'm the first to pick people up on it when they dont... Just look at MySpace! But to say that web 2.0 is "neglecting good design" is codswhallop. The fact is that some of the biggest web 2.0 successes are web-based applications, and their design draws heavily on operating system and office software usage paradigms. Thats really not his area. User interaction really isn't, either, seeing as from what i've read of him, he still thinks that it should be kept to a minimum.

He needs to get down off his high horse. He's not the big daddy he once was... I think most of use who actually know our stuff on the usability front are well past helplessly referencing him by now... I know I am!
