My graphical skills leave a lot to be desired so I'm after a bit of help from you professionals.

I have an image of a group of people. I'm wanting to get rid of the background (this I can do) and them fill all the people with the same colour.

I've been messing around erasing the bg and the edges of the people are quite jagged. How would I best smooth them out once they are all the same colour?

I have Photoshop and Freehand to use if this helps.
