Ok, I felt the need to bring this thread back from the dead. Yesterday, I made the switch to iTunes (for windows) after being a LONG TIME user of Music Match Jukebox.
I have some comments and questions that I hope to get some feedback on:
1) The mp3 library on my computer is larger than what my iPod can hold. On install, the softwareīs default is set to autosync and I had my iPod plugged in for a charge while installing iTunes. iTunes automatically recognized my iPod and deleted all the tracks on it (I guess this was because my library on my PC was too big???) It wasnīt such a hassle becasue the transfers are lightning fast...but still a bit of a pain in the ass because I had so many playlists set up on my iPod and those were erased too.
2) When ripping tracks (iTunes conveniently calls it "importing"...I found that funny): You canīt specify -- or at least to my knowledge you canīt -- how the ripped/imported filenames of the tracks will be named. With Music Match, you could do this and I REALLY liked this feature. I donīt want filenames of my mp3s named 100 different ways, and I have a specified format I prefer so I can organize them in Windowws Explorer. If anyone knows how you can do this, please let me know. Otherwise, Iīm going to keep MusicMatch installed for ripping purposes.
3) I see you can right click on a track and "Convert Selection to Mp3". Does this feature work with AAC tracks purchased from the iTunes music store? If so, thatīs a nice bonus. If not, that TOTALLY sucks and will really deflate my love for iTunes. I don't want AAC files, I want mp3s...and I have 10,000 songs in mp3 format which I SURE AS HELL am
not going to convert to AAC.
4) I found a cool link, too, that I'd like to share (which is more for iPod users):

--this software allows you to transfer songs BACK from your iPod to your PC/Mac. VERY COOL.
TA for any help/comments/etc. on the above points. I'm really enjoying iTunes almost as much as those sleepingfish & MaccyDees blokes.
