Fwiw, I noticed a boxed version of Panther was available on Ebay y'day.
Looking at Ebay (Software > MAcintosh) now there appear to be "full versions" of Jag (some boxed) available for £16-25.
Each of the vendors appear to have 100% positive feedback.
Was it one of these that you went for and got screwed on?
Btw, what was name of the vendor that you bought the dodgy CD from?
It might prove useful to know if only to avoid the chance of ever buying from him in the future.
