You shouldn't be asking here if the design is good or not. This is a personal website meant for your family to see, ask them if they like it - I bet you they don't care about the design. They would go there to look at the CONTENT.
The huge ass logo on the hompage is over powering, and the double click concept for the gallery sucks, just put the photos on there with out asking the "user" to choose which gallery. Color scheme is good. The Links page is kind of useless, you think that anyone will come to you website to discover wikipedia? Think first design.develop later.
Also the news are just headings, all about your website that no one but you care about. Just get a flicker account and put your photos on there for you family to see. You are wasting your time, unless you are learning as you go kind of thing.
