My long-time canadian hosting has recently become a joke of endless failed connections and downtime, despite being told the server hasn't gone down in the last 2 months.

I have no idea whether there is a weak link outside their control or whether their just plain lying to me, but either way I'm going to move host cos it's really starting to piss me off!

I've narrowed it down either pipeten (sheffield) or mediatemple (california). Both offer the same services but mediatemple is almost half the price (exchange rate and all that!).

In any of your experience is there are uptime benefit of hosting in the uk and is it worth the extra cash???
