If you didn't find it useful you obviously didn't need it. It's not about being hip. There's no way I could keep up with all the sites I read without feeds. ATM I'm subscribed to 83. Some are feeds for the beat surrender, letting me know when a contributor adds some content waiting to be edited. Some are my ongoing projects in basecamp. And the majority are blogs/sites I read daily.
Checking my bookmarks regularly would be a nightmare.
